Ohio's Options for a High School Diploma
With Ohio's new options for a high school diploma, you can determine which pathway you'll take and begin preparing. You can demonstrate your readiness for college or career in one of three ways:
Content Mastery: earn a sufficient score on end of course exams, AP exams, or college exams.
College Readiness: earn a remediation free score on an approved college entrance exam, such as the ACT.
Workforce Certification: earn sufficient scores on the WorkKeys exam and an industry-recognized credential exam.
Make a Plan to Succeed
Student steps to test success:
Decide which test you need to take.
Determine when you will take the test. Plan to register 2 months in advance for ACT, SAT, or WorkKeys tests.
Register for the test you will take. For ACT or SAT you will register yourself online. For WorkKeys tests, you will determine where you will take the test and call the testing center to register. If you are taking an AP test, your AP instructor will register you. If you need to take a college placement test, contact the college you plan to attend to determine test dates.
Use the free tools available on the OhioMeansJobs, K-12 site to find tutorials, ebooks, and practice tests you can use to prepare for the test. Plan to practice a little each week for the 8 weeks leading up to the test.
The night before the test, get plenty of sleep. The morning of the test, eat a healthy breakfast.
