Essential Questions

What is snow?

Make list of what you know about snow on your KWL chart. Here are a few facts to get you started:

  • Snow is cold.
  • Snow is white.
  • It snows in the winter.

What questions can you think of when it comes to snow? Make a list of questions to add to your KWL chart. You can use these below to help you get started.

  • What is snow made of? 
  • What does snow look the way it does? 
  • Why does it snow in the Winter?
  • Can it snow when the sun is shining?


Activity (Pre-Assessment)

Use a KWL chart to record "What I know" about snow and "What I want to learn" about snow.  Column 3, "What I have learned," will be completed at the end of the research inquiry.  (30 minutes)
